Rack End Barrier (Single Rail)
The Rack End Barrier 200/90 range is the most recent and most popular product in the racking protection range. The barriers are fixed one piece units and are available in single and double rail versions. Both versions can be supplied in lengths from 750 – 2500mm to suit nearly all makes and types of racking installed in either single or double bays. The end posts are based on the design of the 200mm OD A-Safe Bollard products and the single or double horizontal rails between the two posts have a substantial 90 x 90mm section.
Applications and Benefits
The barriers are used in warehouse and distribution environments where palletised or un-palletised goods or products are stored on light or heavy duty racking systems. The single rail version is the lighter duty product of the two versions. It is suitable for use in areas where manual or electric powered pallet trucks, order pickers, counter balance trucks up to 2500kg and reach trucks are operating in the in the racking aisles
Due to the use of the circular end posts it provides enhanced impact protection at the barrier ends which are the parts of the barrier most vulnerable to impact as loaded or unloaded manual or powered lift trucks are turned into or out of the aisles between racking bays. When installed the barrier is not in direct contact with or physically attached in any way to the racking it is protecting. This ensures that impact forces are absorbed and dissipated by the barrier and not transmitted to the racking system thereby avoiding damage that can be both extensive and expensive.
Rack End Barrier (Double Rail)
The Rack End Barrier 200/90 range is the most recent and most popular product in the racking protection range. The barriers are fixed one piece units and are available in single and double rail versions. Both versions can be supplied in lengths from 750 – 2500mm to suit nearly all makes and types of racking installed in either single or double bays. The end posts are based on the design of the 200mm OD A-Safe Bollard products and the single or double horizontal rails between the two posts have a substantial 90 x 90mm section.
Applications and Benefits
The double rail version is the heavier duty product of the two versions. It offers the same benefits and may be used for the same applications as the single rail version of the barrier and like the single rail version is used in warehouse and distribution environments where palletised or un-palletised goods or products are stored on light or heavy duty racking systems.
The addition of the second rail increases the height of the barrier and makes it suitable for providing impact protection and use in areas where vehicles with higher centres of gravity than those that the single rail version of the barrier is designed to be compatible with are in operation. In addition for use with the vehicles listed for the single rail version the double rail version of the barrier is compatible for use in areas where counter balance fork lift trucks up to 4500kg are present.
Rack Leg Protector
In a run or bay of racking, the non-corner uprights along the length of the racking can also be subject to accidental impacts. Generally these impacts occur at lower levels from vehicles but can also occur at higher levels on the rack legs from misalignment or bad positioning of goods or pallets being loaded on to the racking shelves. To maintain the racking systems integrity and safety it is necessary that damaged racking legs are replaced. This takes time and effort in replacing damaged parts, all of which costs money (and can often be very expensive dependant on the extent of damage caused).
The leg protectors have an external high density ballistics grade plastic outer impact deflector with a tough foam inner impact diffuser. The inner diffuser is shaped to provide a flush interface between the diffuser and the external profile of the racking leg. The protectors are available in standard heights of 300mm and 600mm to suit varying impact protection height requirements or varying racking shelf heights and are stackable to provide rack leg protection to a desired height. For bulk orders the protectors can be manufactured to meet a non-standard impact protection height requirement.
Applications and Benefits
The rack leg protectors are used in warehouse and distribution environments where racking systems are used for storage to provide the required impact protection for rack legs or uprights. The protectors are used on both racking legs along a racking bay or aisle length and racking corner legs. The curved shape of the protector provides high impact deflection properties whilst the internal foam impact diffuser effectively and efficiently diffuses impact forces along the length (height) of the protector.
Use of the rack leg protectors has been shown to reduce racking damage by as much as 80% and at a conservative estimate the cost of the protector represents only 15 – 20% of the cost of replacing a damaged rack leg. They are available in three different width sizes to suit fitting to all types and makes of racking systems and are simply fitted by clipping to new or existing without fixings being required. The standard colour is high visibility yellow, immediately reducing the likelihood of impact occurrence by simple visual detection and are also available in green or red for fire exit, safety equipment or traffic management systems and designation of one way traffic routes.
